12 bus and 2 van routes daily.

Our fleet consists of 15 buses 5 vans and 4 cars. All buses
and vans are equipped with wheel chair lifts.

Our routes travel the four corners of the 418 square miles in Sandusky County.

We serve 8 school districts.

552 special event trips were made in 2009.

214 individual consumers and students are transported on our regular routes.

 

Vehicles used on our regular routes go through 2
inspections daily.

Vehicles are inspected at least twice yearly by the Ohio
Highway Patrol.

 

Regular routes are assigned an onboard bus aide to assist the consumers and students in addition to the bus driver.

All transportation personnel maintain current Infant, Child
and Adult CPR as well as First Aid.

Transportation personnel receive 32 – 40 hours training
annually.

Bus Transportation is the safest form of transportation in
the US.  Ohio has the highest rider mileage without injury
accident of all the states. There are 8 emergency exits per
bus.

Van drivers go through the same rigorous training as our
bus drivers and maintain the same state training
certificates.

 

Our friendly transportation staff are there to assist
individuals on and off the bus and to make sure that the
individuals get into their residence safely.

On board people can socialize with their friends and share
the day’s experiences with others that they may not see during the day.

Special events are held for only those who use SCBDD transportation.
